External Drain Cleared using High-Pressure Water Jetting in West Kingsdown, Kent

We’re called out to properties across Kent every week, and West Kingsdown is an area we know well. This job involved a blocked external drainage system that had been causing the homeowner real concern — and it needed more than a quick rod to sort it.

The problem

drain problem

A deep blockage causing wastewater to back up

The client had noticed their external drainage wasn’t performing as it should. Wastewater had started to back up inside the inspection chamber, which is usually a reliable sign that something’s blocking the flow further down the line.

When we took a closer look, it became clear the blockage was sitting deep within the underground pipework — well beyond the reach of standard rodding equipment. On top of that, there was a significant build-up of debris and residue lining the inside of the drain, which had been restricting flow for some time.

It’s the kind of issue that won’t go away on its own. Left unaddressed, a blocked drain like this carries a real risk of surface flooding, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall. West Kingsdown sits in an area of Kent that can be susceptible to surface water issues, so the client was right to want it dealt with properly.

What we did

High-pressure water jetting via the external manhole

Our engineer gained access through the external manhole and brought in a high-pressure water jetting machine to tackle the blockage directly. Jetting is the most effective method for this type of job — it doesn’t just shift the blockage, it cleans the pipe walls too, removing the debris and residue that had been building up over time.

Once the jetting was complete, we checked the inspection chamber to confirm water was moving through freely. It was — the system had been fully restored.

We also took the time to walk the client through what we’d found and what we’d done, and gave them some straightforward advice on how to reduce the chance of a similar build-up happening again. No jargon, no upselling — just practical guidance they could actually use.

The outcome

The drainage system was left clean, clear, and working exactly as it should. The client was relieved to have the issue sorted quickly and without disruption, and told us they were really pleased with how the job had been handled from start to finish.

For us, that’s the job done right.
